Welcome to the website of Center for Bandstructure Engineering, one of national research initiatives established in June 2021 as a leader grant program funded by the Korean government (every year only one or two group in the field of physics is selected for this grant, and each center is provided with $4.5M for 6 years). We aim to solve the mystery of quantum phenomena in low-dimensional quantum materials, primarily focusing on 3 research topics: (1) Topology, (2) Correlation, (3) Disorder. We have so far made the following contributions to the field:

•  Observation of a widely tunable bandgap: Science (2015)
•  Discovery of Holstein polarons: Nature Materials (2018)
•  Bipolar pseudospin semiconductor: Nature Materials (2020)
•  Electronic structure of liquid metals: Nature (2021)
